Mangrove Ecosystem, Monkey and Bird Watching

kayak or motor boat

Discover and explore the wonderful world of mangrove ecosystem, just 15 minutes away from Manuel Antonio. We invite you to meet the amazing variety of wildlife that lives in the beautiful forests of mangrove ecosystem.

After a brief talk on how to row, our bilingual tourist guide will show you the richness of birds and other animals which live in this ecosystem. Right at the border of the estuary, you will be able to watch the true stars of this magnificent habitat: the tiger crab, the rainbow boa which holds itself against the aerial roots of the mangrove, the “silky ant eater”, monkeys on top of the highest branches and even crocodiles entering or leaving the water in front of your eyes.

You will be able to row in silence, under the exuberant branches of the trees and while watching the spectacular range of birds, snakes, crocodiles, ant bears and white-faced monkeys that inhabit the area.

Damas Island natural estuary is the habitat for one of the most particular wildlife habitats of the planet and you will get a chance to see this impressive and fragile ecosystem during your visit.

In the mangrove ecosystem, sweet water from the rivers metes salt water from the ocean and this magical encounter creates a practically submerged forest, where aerial roots seem to be knitted during the journey.
